You shall not misuse the name of the LORD you God, for the LORD will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name.
Oh my... That one sends waves through me. My heart aches when I think about how careless I have been with God's names. I think most of us have casually said "oh my god!" or "lord have mercy" without really wanting God's mercy or really calling out to Him. If we could fully understand the power of His name, I think we wouldn't allow it to casually come off our lips. The Bible tells us in Revelation that there is a name of God that no one knows. I think because He knew we would use it as a curse word.
Dear Father, You are so awesome. Your name should be on my lips as praise. Forgive me Father for every careless time I have used your holy name in vain. Quicken my spirit when I do use it inappropriately. I only want to honor You my King. Remind me Lord that there is none like You. Remind me of the power in Your name. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
